At CEFOSI, we are committed to transforming food systems through research, innovation, and collaboration to ensure food security, nutrition, and sustainability for communities in Uganda and beyond.
Centre for Food Systems Innovation (CEFOSI) is a pioneering non-profit organization established in Uganda and dedicated to fostering sustainable, innovative, and inclusive food systems. Headquartered in Kampala, Uganda, CEFOSI specializes in bridging the gaps across food value chains by integrating research, capacity building, climate smart agriculture, policy advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration. CEFOSI intentionally strives to actively contribute to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).
Most Sub-Saharan Africa countries are still lagging behind in the implementation of the SDGs, it is our contention that by adopting the philosophy of food systems, a lot more can be achieved. CEFOSI has a strong team of researchers and consultants that are grounded in the area of food systems analysis. The team members have many years of experience as academicians at Makerere University and other institutions of higher learning where they have over the years handled pertinent issues that are key to agri-food systems such as; commodity value chain analysis, food safety, post-harvest handling of foods, food product development and marketing, nutrition assessments, feasibility studies, among others.
We are committed to creating resilient food systems that address agribusiness development, food security, nutrition, food safety, and sustainability challenges in communities in Uganda and beyond.
Vision: To be a global leader in transforming food systems for a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable world.
Mission: To drive innovation and collaboration across food value chains, enabling communities to achieve food security, better nutrition, and economic empowerment.
